Prabhu is a Managing Director at Macquarie Infrastructure and Real Assets (MIRA – Real Estate). Prabhu joined Macquarie in 2016 and has 22 years of professional experience in real estate investment. He commenced his career in Australia as a real estate and finance lawyer which he continued in New York from 2001 in the real estate groups of large global law firms (Shearman & Sterling and Kaye Scholer LLP) representing institutional clients in a wide range of US real estate debt transactions and equity joint ventures across all real estate asset classes.
From 2007 Prabhu joined Merrill Lynch’s $6B Global Real Estate Principal Investments group (GREPI) eventually becoming Global Chief Operating Officer and Portfolio Manager for 6.5 years. He focused on the establishment and management of real estate investments (operating platforms and joint ventures) as well as real estate opportunity funds in the U.S., Latin America, Asia and Europe.
He joined Macquarie to build institutional execution capabilities globally around formation and management of private-equity investments in real estate operating companies as well as making direct real estate investments. He focuses his time on best-practices benchmarking and performance improvement of real estate operating companies and is part of the investment committee of MIRA Real Estate.
