PLP secures planning consent for phase 1 of PLP Crewe
The first phase of PLP’s new logistics scheme in Crewe totalling 135,500 sq ft will commence construction later this year after it was granted planning consent by Cheshire East Council.
The proposals are for two units of 92,500 sq ft and 43,000 sq ft on an 8 acre plot at the Basford West employment site which has recently been prepared for development with a significant investment in new site infrastructure. The units will be built speculatively and completed in summer 2020.
Phase 2 of PLP Crewe is currently being marketed for design & build opportunities for distribution units of up to 500,000 sq ft.
PLP Crewe is a strategic gateway site with excellent links to Junction 16 of the M6 and the wider motorway network.
Keith Wilson, Development Director at PLP commented: “We are delighted to have achieved planning consent for this important employment scheme in Crewe. The committee was extremely positive, voting unanimously in support of the proposals and it was great to hear such positive feedback from members on the design and specifically our commitment to biodiversity and sustainability.”
“They were also pleased with our plans to speculatively develop these units. We will shortly be appointing a contractor to commence construction later this year for completion next summer.”
“PLP Crewe represents a fantastic opportunity to secure new premises in a modern business park environment. The scheme will appeal to local and national businesses alike and we look forward to announcing occupiers for the units in due course”
