Whistl pre-leases 140,000 square feet logistics warehousing facility at PLP Astley in Greater Manchester
Whistl, a leading e-commerce logistics specialist, has signed a 15-year lease for 140,000 square feet at PLP Astley, a premier logistics development in Wigan, Greater Manchester. This significant commitment from a renowned logistics brand, with an excellent covenant, marks a major milestone for the scheme and reinforces PLP Astley’s position as a key logistics hub in the North West.
PLP Astley is a brand-new 360,000 sq ft logistics and warehousing park located in Wigan, Greater Manchester. The scheme offers state-of-the-art logistics space with outstanding transport links to the M60 and M62 corridors, making it a prime destination for national and regional distribution. PLP acquired the 19-acre prime urban logistics development site from regeneration specialists Peel Waters earlier this year.
The four-unit scheme comprises of buildings from 35,000 sq ft to 145,000 sq ft, and is targeting BREEAM Excellent, EPC A and Carbon Neutrality in line with CarbonNeutral® Development Certification. The scheme will be a Carbon Net Zero development with EV charging, PV panels, smart meters and energy efficient measures to provide future occupiers with the opportunity of Net Zero operations.
Following the Whistl agreement, approximately 215,000 sq ft of high-specification speculative space remains available across three units. These are expected to attract strong interest from occupiers seeking best-in-class logistics facilities, driven by robust demand in the regional market and the site’s excellent connectivity.
Matt Fitton, Development Director at PLP, commented: “Whistl’s early commitment to PLP Astley is a strong endorsement of the development and the quality of the scheme. Securing such a high-calibre occupier at this stage is a fantastic start and sets a great precedent for future lettings across the remaining units.”
Whistl is a leading logistics company in the UK, specialising in e-commerce fulfilment, mail, and parcel delivery, with a growing footprint across key logistics locations nationwide.
